Syllabus

The pattern of B.Com Part – I Business Mathematics & Statustics consisted of three sections. Students are required to attempt any two (2) questions from each sections. The syllabus consist of the following topics:

  • SECTION – A:
    • MATRICES (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Transpose, Inverse, Cramer’s Rule, Determinants)
    • COORDINATE GEOMETRY (Slope, Distance, Equation of Straight Line, Parabola Equation)
    • DERIVATIVES
  • SECTION – B:
    • PRESENTATION OF DATA 
    • MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY (Arithmetic Mean, Geometric Mean, Harmonic Mean, Corrected Mean, Combine Mean, Properties of Mean, Median, Mode, Quartiles, Deciles, Percentiles, Experical Relationship)
    • MEASURES OF DISPERSION (Range, Quartile Deviation, Mean Deviation from Mean & Median, Variance, Standard Deviation, Coefficient of Variation, Coefficient of Skewness)
    • INDEX NUMBERS (Simple Price Index Numbers, Composite Price Index Numbers, Weighted Average Price Index Numbers including Laspeyre’s, Paasche’s, Fisher’s and Marshall’s Method)
    • REGRESSION & CORRELATION (Least Square Equations of Y on X, X on Y, Coefficient of Correlation, Coefficient of Determination, Rank Correlation)
  • SECTION – C:
    • COUNTING TECHNIQUES (Permutation, Combination)
    • PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION (Probability, Mutually Exclusive Events, Not Mutually Excluisve Events, Dependent Events, Independent Events)
    • SPECIAL PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION (Binomial Distribution, Poission Distribution, Normal Distribution)
    • SAMPLING (With Repitition, Without Repitition)
    • ESTIMATION (Z-Table, T-Table)
    • HYPOTHESES (Z-Table, T-Table, One Tail, Two Tail)

University of Karachi has converted B.Com into ADC (Associate Degree in Commerce) under the instructions of HEC (Higher Education Commission). From 2022, B.Com is considered as ADC. Course outline, duration, examination system and all other things remain same. Just degree has been converted into certificate. The students who registered as B.Com, can complete their B.Com and will be termed as B.Com instead of ADC, but students who will take admission after 2022 will be considered as the students of ADC.
